Keke Palmer’s three-part Audible Original trilogy following her viral alter ego Lady Miss Jacqueline is now complete. Bereavement Committee, the final installment, dropped August 27, following Becoming Lady Miss Jacqueline (July 30) and The Weddings of Lady Miss Jacqueline (August 13) — closing out an audio-first universe built around one of Palmer’s most enduring comedic creations.
Lady Miss Jacqueline started as a bit of on-set boredom. Around 2015, while filming Scream Queens, Palmer and creative partner Max Wyeth began shooting improvised “Southern belle insult” sketches under the hashtag #SouthernBelleInsults. The character — a self-declared 800-year-old, Oscar-winning, gold-plated-birth-canal-having Southern diva — went on to rack up more than 100 million views online and later appeared in Amazon Publishing’s short story collection Southern Belle Insults before Audible optioned her for a full trilogy.
Across the three titles, Palmer voices Lady Miss herself, with a supporting cast that includes Sheryl Lee Ralph as her mother Delia, Danielle Brooks as her best friend and divorce attorney The Baroness, and Zachariah Porter as her Mystic and Butler. Audible’s rollout also names Jenifer Lewis, Audra McDonald, Jackée Harry, Raven-Symoné, Yvette Nicole Brown and Michelle Buteau as part of the ensemble appearing across the universe, though the studio hasn’t broken down which of them land in which specific title.
Here’s how the three chapters break down:
- Becoming Lady Miss Jacqueline (LISTEN NOW): A solo audio memoir, with Palmer narrating Lady Miss’s fabricated, centuries-spanning origin story — shipwreck survival, feuds with royalty, teaching Shirley Temple to tap dance. Written with Jonterri Gadson and Max Wyeth.
- The Weddings of Lady Miss Jacqueline (LISTEN NOW): The multi-cast scripted centerpiece, spanning six decades of strategic matrimony — from a 1970s Malibu rehearsal dinner and a 1990s Sedona crystal-mine wedding to a 2025 penthouse ceremony and an intergalactic courtroom in 2089. Palmer is joined by Ralph, Brooks and Porter.
- Bereavement Committee (LISTEN NOW): The finale, pitting Lady Miss against a scheming church villain with five dead husbands and an AI conspiracy at the center of a New Orleans megachurch. Cast again includes Palmer, Brooks, Ralph and Porter, with writing credited to Max Wyeth and Ashley Ray-Harris.
Palmer, Sharon Palmer, Max Wyeth, Big Bosses Entertainment and Lacy Lynch serve as executive producers across the trilogy.
Palmer has framed the project as a full-circle moment. “I felt like a has-been at the age of 18,” she said of turning to digital comedy after her child-star years. “Audio is the next chapter of that reinvention. With Audible, Lady Miss isn’t constrained by an algorithm or a runtime — she can exist across decades, in space colonies, in megachurches.”
Audible’s Kate Navin, Head of Creative Development for North America, called the character “the kind of larger-than-life persona that demands space to breathe, scheme, and deliver devastating one-liners,” adding that the trilogy shows “why Keke is leading the charge” in audio storytelling.
Audible also released a companion piece, the three-part microdrama Southern Belle Insults: The Pre-Wedding Shenanigans of Lady Miss (August 17–19), written by Max Wyeth, directed by Kristen Brancaccio and edited by Thomas Pallier — a prequel set on the morning of Lady Miss’s wedding that spirals into a scandal big enough to draw comment from the Pope.
