Keraun Harris and Simone Shepherd Harris, real-life husband and wife, star as a married couple running a Black-owned funeral home in Homegoing, a new short-form digital comedy premiering Wednesday, October 28. Created by the couple themselves, the series follows the fictional version of their marriage as they navigate a business where every grieving family arrives with a different vision of the perfect goodbye, and the two owners rarely agree on how to deliver it.
The show’s central tension comes from the couple’s contrasting instincts: he believes in tradition, she believes every family deserves a send-off as individual as the person they lost. Each new request tests their business, their patience, and their marriage, whether that means a consultation that turns into a family reunion beside a casket, an R&B farewell complete with surprise backup singers, or a tribute that raises unexpected questions about faith and artificial intelligence. Beneath the comedy, the series is built around a familiar emotional need: the desire to feel that someone who died has been truly seen and remembered, with grief, joy, church, and family business all sharing space in the same half-hour.
Harris, known for Black-ish and Halloween Ends, next appears in Best Pancakes in the County alongside Nicolas Cage, in theaters November 20. Shepherd Harris previously served as supervising producer on BET’s 50 Central and wrote and directed the microdrama series The Association. Together, the couple has built a combined social following of eight million, and Homegoing marks the first time they’ve brought their real marriage directly into a fictional workplace built around their comic chemistry, rather than keeping their creative work and personal life in separate lanes.
The series premieres in vertical format on Instagram and TikTok, with a widescreen version on YouTube, starting October 28th.
