The Johnson family is growing on Beyond the Gates.
Khiry Walker and Denzell Dandridge have joined the CBS daytime drama as Cedric and Lamont Johnson, the brothers of Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson Morrison). Both actors make their debut on the Tuesday, September 8 episode, marking their first daytime television roles.
The brothers’ arrival puts them face to face with Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson), who is dating their sister and doesn’t immediately win them over. Whether Ted can turn the Johnson brothers around remains to be seen.
The new arrivals continue Beyond the Gates’ expansion beyond its central Dupree family, giving the show another avenue to build out Shanice’s world while introducing a fresh family dynamic to Fairmont Crest. Details on Cedric and Lamont’s storylines are being kept under wraps for now.
Created by Michele Val Jean, Beyond the Gates debuted February 24, 2025, as the first new daytime network soap since 1999 and the first to feature a primarily African-American cast since the early 1990s series Generations. The show follows the Duprees, an affluent, multi-generational Black family living in the gated Maryland community of Fairmont Crest, alongside the Hamilton, Hawthorne and Richardson families who round out the cast.
The show recently earned 15 Daytime Emmy nominations for the 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards, airing Friday, October 30, the highest nomination tally for any series in its first year of eligibility.
