Lifetime has set the premiere of its new original documentary Kimora Lee: On Her Own for Saturday, September 20 at 8/7c, continuing the network’s run of documentaries centered on women reclaiming their narratives.
The film traces Kimora Lee’s path from one of Karl Lagerfeld’s youngest Chanel models to the visionary behind Baby Phat, built through candid interviews with her children, family, friends and collaborators. It also covers her very public marriages and divorces, and who she is now on her own.
“People think they know my story because they watched it happen in the headlines,” Kimora Lee said. “They don’t. So many years of being somebody’s muse, somebody’s wife, somebody’s ex. Someone else always holding the pen. Not anymore. Here are the highs, the lows and the receipts. No filter. Just Kimora Lee.”
Beyond the story of a global fashion empire, the documentary frames itself as a portrait of resilience and independence, following Kimora as she reflects on the personal and professional challenges that shaped her life, the sacrifices behind her success and her effort to reclaim her voice. She also speaks on motherhood, love, heartbreak and ambition, while the film highlights Baby Phat’s influence on fashion and culture as a brand built around confidence, inclusivity and expression.
