The cast of Universal and Illumination’s upcoming animated feature Not Alone just got even more stacked. Emmy winner Lamorne Morris (Fargo, Spider-Noir) has joined the voice cast alongside previously announced stars Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez, with the news dropping out of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Chalamet, making his feature animation debut, will voice Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic living a quiet life alone. Gomez plays Fran, a brilliant astro-botanist developing the world’s first plant-fueled rocket. When Joe and Fran are brought together for the inaugural launch of Fran’s revolutionary creation, sparks fly between the two despite neither being especially great at romance. Things get considerably more chaotic when three tiny, unruly, and undeniably adorable aliens named Dunk, Welly, and Shirm take refuge in Joe’s home, desperate to find a way back to their home planet while dodging a zealous-yet-bumbling intergalactic officer of the law named Zandro.
The alien trio will be voiced by British comedy heavyweights Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, and Jamie Demetriou, while Ted Lasso fan favorite Brett Goldstein steps in as Officer Zandro. Oscar winner Allison Janney rounds out the supporting cast alongside Morris.
Behind the camera, Not Alone is co-directed by Eric Guillon, the designer behind the original Despicable Me and Minions and co-director of Despicable Me 3, joined by Claire Dodgson and Jonathan Del Val, both longtime Illumination collaborators. The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri.
Not Alone hits theaters April 16, 2027.
