Laz Alonso and Ron Funches Join Cast of ‘The Kellys’ Alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Geena Davis and More

Prime Video’s action thriller The Kellys continues to build out its ensemble. Laz Alonso and Ron Funches have joined the Amazon MGM Studios and Thunder Road production, joining a cast that already includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Geena Davis, Liam Hemsworth, Kelsey Asbille, and Abby Elliott. Also newly added are Noomi Rapace, Michael Biehn, Roland Møller, Basil Eidenbenz and Dan Fogler.

Written by Tze Chun and directed by Brad Peyton, the film follows Jack Kelly, a disgraced New York City cop whose wife Molly is taken hostage by terrorists inside an old armory building. To save her, he must join forces with the people he fears most: his own family. Amazon MGM will distribute the film globally on Prime Video in more than 240 countries.

Alonso, best known for starring in Prime Video’s The Boys, will next be seen in the Netflix romantic drama Don’t Ever Wonder, inspired by Maxwell’s iconic album Urban Hang Suite. His additional credits include James Cameron’s Avatar, Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit and his NAACP Image Award-winning performance in Jumping the Broom. Funches brings a deep television resume including Black-ish, New Girl, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Traitors, with film credits including Get Hard and 80 for Brady.

Rapace, the Swedish actress who shot to international fame as Lisbeth Salander in the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, brings a formidable resume that includes Prometheus, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Lamb. Biehn is a genre icon best known for his collaborations with James Cameron on The Terminator, Aliens and The Abyss, and will next be seen in A24’s Onslaught. Møller, who won the Bodil Award for Best Actor for Land of Mine, will next appear opposite Jason Statham in Lionsgate’s Mutiny. Eidenbenz is known for his role in Netflix’s The Witcher and his appearance in Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite. Tony Award-winning actor Fogler can currently be seen in Season 3 of HBO’s House of the Dragon and recently appeared in James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown.
