Apple TV+ continues to expand its slate of prestige dramas, adding Leslie Odom Jr. to the cast of Imperfect Women, a psychological thriller led and executive produced by Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington.
Based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, the story follows three women whose decades-long friendship is fractured by a shocking crime. As the investigation unfolds, buried truths come to light, exposing themes of guilt, betrayal, love, and the irreversible decisions that reshape lives. The project is being described as a mystery complicated by shifting perspectives and emotional depth.
Odom joins previously cast Washington, Moss, Rome Flynn, Ana Ortiz, Sherri Saum, Kate Mara, Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll. Odom will recur as Donovan, Ortiz will portray Detective Ganz, while Saum and Flynn play characters who add personal and emotional tension to the series.
Imperfect Women marks Odom’s return to Apple TV+ following his work on the animated series Central Park. The Tony and Grammy Award-winning performer—best known for originating the role of Aaron Burr in Hamilton—was most recently seen on Broadway in Purlie Victorious, earning a Tony nomination for his performance. His film credits include Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, The Many Saints of Newark, and his Oscar-nominated turn as Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami….
Behind the scenes, the series is being helmed by Physical creator Annie Weisman, who will write, showrun, and executive produce. Moss and Lindsey McManus executive produce under their Love & Squalor Pictures banner, which originally optioned the novel. Washington executive produces via her Simpson Street shingle alongside producing partner Pilar Savone. Author Araminta Hall and Kay Oyegun (This Is Us) are also on board as executive producers, with Oyegun writing as well. Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Mad Men) is directing the pilot and executive producing.
A co-production between Apple Studios and 20th Television, Imperfect Women continues Apple TV+’s streak of female-led thrillers and is poised to deliver a gripping look at the dark complexities of friendship, perspective, and consequence.
