Lil Rel Howery will be producing and leading a majority solo performance in the upcoming sci-fi-thriller movie called The Mill. The film, which recently wrapped shooting in New Jersey, also stars Karen Obilom, Scoot McNairy, and Pat Healy.
The movie centers on Howery as a white-collar businessman who wakes up in an open-air prison cell containing only an old grist mill. Forced to work as a beast of burden to stay alive, he must find a way to escape before the birth of his child.
Jeffrey David Thomas penned the script and Sean King O’Grady directed.

It will be produced by 20th Digital Studio, Hulu Originals and Altar Rock Pictures and will debut exclusively on Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally later in 2023.
This thriller is the latest project Howery has done with Hulu. He recently collaborated on the streamer with the hit comedy Vacation Friends which is soon to be followed up by the anticipated sequel, Honeymoon Friends.
The Mill is also one of several horror movies produced by 20th Digital Studio for Hulu. The other horror/thrillers include Grimcutty, Matriarch, Clock and Appendage.
It is produced by Josh Feldman, Lil Rel Howery, Sean King O’Grady, and Jesse Ford. Barbara and Brooke Goldner are serving as executive producers for Altar Rock Pictures, while David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian, and Jenna Cavelle represent 20th Digital Studio as executive producers. The deal for the film was brokered by Josh Feldman for Altar Rock and Jenna Cavelle for 20th Digital.
