Liza Colón-Zayas is officially stepping into the Marvel universe.
The Emmy-winning actress, best known for her unforgettable turn as Tina Marrero in The Bear, has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth chapter in Sony and Marvel Studios’ blockbuster Spider-Man franchise starring Tom Holland. While details about her role are still being kept under wraps—tight as a web—Deadline reports she’s officially locked in, and filming is set to begin this summer in the U.K.
Reps for Sony and Marvel stayed quiet (as they usually do), and no character info has been revealed just yet. But with Colón-Zayas and Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink both onboard in undisclosed roles, it’s clear this next Spidey chapter is assembling a heavy-hitting lineup.
Returning to the franchise alongside Holland are Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, reprising their roles as MJ and Ned, respectively. The film will be directed by Shang-Chi filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, with longtime producer Amy Pascal back in the mix alongside Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Brand New Day is slated to swing into theaters July 31, 2026.
And while plot specifics are still under lock and key, the movie picks up after the reality-shaking events of No Way Home, where Peter made the ultimate sacrifice to save the multiverse—wiping himself from everyone’s memory and ending up more alone than ever. The stakes are personal, and if the title Brand New Day is any hint, we’re likely entering a new phase of Peter’s story—older, wiser, and more battle-worn.
It’s been a long wait for this next Spidey film, but Marvel fans have reason to get excited. Every Tom Holland-led entry has delivered at the box office, with No Way Home topping $1.9 billion globally, Far From Home clearing $1.1 billion, and Homecoming pulling in over $880 million. Needless to say, expectations are sky-high.
Colón-Zayas, for her part, has been on a tear. Her portrayal of Tina on The Bear not only earned her a historic Emmy—making her the first Latina to win Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy—but also solidified her as one of the most compelling performers on TV. She’s also racked up nods from the Critics Choice Awards, SAG Awards, and Golden Globes. The hit FX series, starring Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, is set to return for its fourth season.
Beyond the kitchen chaos of The Bear, Colón-Zayas has quietly built an impressive résumé. Recent film credits include IF and Cat Person, and she’s had memorable roles in In Treatment, David Makes Man, and several acclaimed stage productions. She’s repped by Stewart Talent, Liebman Entertainment, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
As casting picks up steam and production ramps into gear, fans can likely expect more announcements soon—including who’ll take on villain duties in the next phase of Peter Parker’s journey. But one thing’s for sure: with Colón-Zayas now in the mix, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be a bold, talent-packed return to the streets—and skies—of New York.
