Chris “Ludacris” Bridges is gearing up for his next big-screen action role.
The Fast & Furious franchise staple has signed on to star in ‘Limited Edition,’ a new action feature in development at Universal Pictures and 87North. The project will be written and directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, the filmmaking duo behind the recent action-comedy hit Novocaine.
Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but the film continues 87North’s lane of high-energy, stunt-forward action storytelling. Producing the feature are David Leitch and Kelly McCormick under 87North’s first-look deal with Universal. Braden Aftergood, who recently joined 87North after co-founding Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions, will also produce and oversee the project.
At the studio level, Jay Polidoro, Executive Vice President of Production Development, and Tony Ducret, Director of Development, will oversee Limited Edition for Universal.
Ludacris is best known to moviegoers as Tej Parker, a core member of Dominic Toretto’s crew in Universal’s blockbuster Fast & Furious saga. His film résumé also includes Crash, Hustle & Flow, , and the holiday comedy Dashing Through the Snow among others. Beyond acting, the multi-platinum rapper has sold over 20 million albums, earned three Grammy Awards, and notched multiple No. 1 hits across his nearly 30-year music career.
Berk and Olsen are coming off Novocaine, the Jack Quaid-led action comedy that opened at No. 1 at the box office before becoming a streaming standout. Their previous work includes Significant Other for Paramount and the SXSW-acclaimed horror comedy Villains.
Limited Edition joins a busy slate for 87North, which also includes upcoming projects such as How to Rob a Bank, Violent Night 2, Ballerina Overdrive, and Over Your Dead Body.
