Madison Bailey Trades the Outer Banks for a ’90s Noir Mystery in Cameron Van Hoy’s ‘SoCal’

Madison Bailey is set to star in SoCal, a 1990s-set neo-noir written and directed by Cameron Van Hoy, following the conclusion of her five-season run on Netflix’s Outer Banks.

Bailey will play Ramona, a clever and resourceful high school pot dealer in San Diego during the summer of 1999. When the school’s star quarterback hires her to find his missing girlfriend, Ashley Walker, Ramona uncovers secrets lurking beneath the seemingly perfect suburban landscape. What begins as a missing-person investigation spirals into a story of romance, desire, mystery and murder.

The film is backed by Ardor Pictures, Ferrari Films, Live Nation Studios, Gulfstream Pictures and Luber Roklin Entertainment. Van Hoy will produce alongside Stacy Kemp Ferrari for Ardor Pictures, Matt Luber and Lena Roklin for Luber Roklin Entertainment, Stella Bulochnikov and Jolene Rapino for Live Nation Studios, and Mike Karz and Bill Bindley for Gulfstream Pictures. Brendan Petrizzo and James Mahoney are co-producing for Ardor Pictures, while Rapino and Ryan Kroft executive produce for Live Nation Studios.

Bailey is best known for playing Kiara “Kie” Carrera on Outer Banks, the teen mystery drama created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke. The series recently concluded its five-season run. Her other credits include Black Lightning, American Horror Stories and Maintenance Required.

For Van Hoy, SoCal follows the crime thriller Flinch and precedes The Prince, an upcoming addiction drama starring Scott Haze, Nicolas Cage and J.K. Simmons.
