Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Megalyn Echikunwoke Are Heading Back to Fox in ‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit’ Season 3

Fox is bringing in some familiar faces for season 3 of Alert: Missing Persons Unit. Malcolm-Jamal Warner (The Resident) and Megalyn Echikunwoke (Almost Family) are set to shake things up in the hit procedural, joining Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez in recurring roles.

For those who need a refresher, Alert: Missing Persons Unit follows the Philadelphia Police Department’s MPU, a specialized team dedicated to tracking down missing people and reuniting them with their loved ones. Leading the charge are Jason Grant (Caan) and Nikki Batista (Ramirez), who—along with their team—handle some of the city’s most intense and emotional cases.

Now, enter Warner and Echikunwoke.

Warner will play Chief Inspector Bill Houston, a by-the-book leader stepping in on an interim basis to oversee the MPU. A former Army Captain, he believes in structure and discipline—so naturally, Jason’s reckless, shoot-from-the-hip approach doesn’t sit well with him. But as Houston watches the team get results with their unconventional methods, he starts rethinking his hard-line stance. Before long, he finds himself stepping into a role the team never knew they needed: a father figure.

Echikunwoke, on the other hand, brings some history with her. She plays Lt. Gabrielle Bennett, a tough, ambitious officer who used to be Jason’s trainee. When he left the force under murky circumstances, she rose through the ranks at lightning speed—and that was no accident. Bennett is sharp, driven, and knows how to get things done, but she’s also about covering her tracks. As long as she doesn’t get caught up in the chaos, she’s all for bending the rules.

Season 2 is dialing up the tension, with cases ranging from a missing collegiate rowing team to a street artist set to donate life-saving bone marrow who vanishes without a trace. Meanwhile, Nikki is playing a dangerous game with Irish mob boss Charlie McGannon (guest star Ian Tracey), and the MPU is about to face their most personal case yet—one of their own goes missing, and it’s all hands on deck to bring them home.

Also starring Adeola Role and Ryan Broussard, Alert: Missing Persons Unit is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment, with Carla Kettner serving as showrunner. Executive producers include Jon Cowan, Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Sean Hennen, John Eisendrath, Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner, and Brad Turner.

Warner, fresh off 9-1-1 and The Resident, has been stacking up solid TV roles, including a standout performance in Fox’s The Accused. Echikunwoke, meanwhile, has been booked and busy, wrapping two films (The Golden Door and Stay) while continuing to make her mark on TV and film.

With Warner and Echikunwoke joining the mix, Alert: Missing Persons Unit is bringing even more fire when season 3 returns. Get ready.
