Mamoudou Athie (‘Kinds of Kindness’) and Juliette Lewis (‘Yellowjackets’) are set to star in the upcoming indie film ‘By Design,’ written and directed by Amanda Kramer (‘Please Baby Please’). The film recently wrapped production in Los Angeles and will take a unique twist on the classic body swap genre, though specific plot details remain under wraps.

Joining Athie and Lewis are Samantha Mathis (‘The Exorcism’), Robin Tunney (‘Dear Edward’), Clifton Collins Jr. (‘Jockey’), Udo Kier (‘Swan Song’), and Betty Buckley (‘Eternity’). The production is helmed by Miranda Bailey and Natalie Whalen from Cold Iron Pictures (‘Swiss Army Man’), alongside Sarah Winshall of Smudge Films, Jacob Agger, and Amanda Kramer. Executive producers include Lauren Mann, Jason Beck, Madison McKinley, James Belfer, Karen Belfer, and Riccardo Maddalosso.

Juliette Lewis, best known for her Oscar-nominated performance and current role in Showtime’s hit series ‘Yellowjackets,’ is no stranger to intense and dynamic roles. She’ll next be seen in the dark western thriller ‘The Thicket,’ opposite Peter Dinklage, and in the horror film ‘Opus’ alongside Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich.

Mamoudou Athie, who recently appeared in Yorgos Lanthimos’s ‘Kinds of Kindness,’ has an impressive slate of recent projects including ‘The Burial’ on Prime Video, ‘Jurassic World Dominion,’ and animated features like ‘Elemental’ and ‘The Boy and the Heron.’ Athie continues to make waves with his diverse range of performances, currently starring in ‘Good Bones,’ directed by Saheem Ali, at The Public Theater.

Amanda Kramer’s unique directorial style has been showcased in previous works like ‘Please Baby Please,’ which won the Grand Jury Prize at Outfest. Her latest narrative feature, ‘By Design,’ looks to add another innovative project to her eclectic filmography.

Keep an eye out for ‘By Design’ as it brings a fresh take on the body swap genre, featuring a stellar cast and a visionary director at the helm.
