Marlon Wayans just gave us something to talk about. During his sit-down on Big Boy TV, the actor, writer, and producer not only revealed plans for a sequel to Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood but gave an update on Scary Movie 6.

It’s been nearly 30 years since Don’t Be a Menace flipped the script on classic ’90s hood films, poking fun at heavy hitters like Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society, Juice, and South Central. Wayans teased a return to the beloved spoof genre that helped cement the Wayans family’s comedy legacy. “I’m gonna do a sequel to that,” he revealed. “We’re gonna take all our movies and do sequels. People need comedy.”

Whether he’s just talking in the moment or serious, only time will tell but the real question is, would you be here for a sequel to this parody classic?

He also gave an update to Scary Movie 6 while speaking with Big Boy. As we previously reported, the Wayans brothers are officially reclaiming the Scary Movie franchise they created. Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans are back in the driver’s seat, and they’re making sure this sixth installment is done right. The film is slated for a 2026 release, and Marlon shared that the new installment will be a return to form under a fresh creative partnership. “The way it was done last time, it wasn’t the right way,” Wayans said. “But regimes change. It’s still the same company, but now it’s completely different—owned by somebody new, with a completely different CEO. We’ve got a great working relationship, and we’re gonna make a classic.”

The Scary Movie franchise has had a rocky history since the Wayans brothers parted ways with it after the second installment. Marlon likened the experience to watching a cherished creation fall into the wrong hands. “It’s like creating a baby with your family, and then your wife cheats on you, takes the baby, and marries someone who abuses the kid,” he said, adding, “But now the kid is back, living with daddy, getting nutrition, and thriving again.”

With the franchise back in the hands of the Wayans family, the big question remains: Will Regina Hall return as Brenda Meeks? Hall has already expressed her excitement about the reboot and teased her interest in stepping back into the role. “I’m thrilled at the possibility that the band could get back together again,” Hall said in a recent interview.

Anna Faris, who played Cindy Campbell in the first four films, has also shared her willingness to reunite with Hall. “We would make each other giggle all day long,” Faris told People earlier this year.

Scary Movie first hit theaters in 2000, turning horror classics like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and The Sixth Sense on their heads. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and co-written by Marlon and Shawn, the film became a box-office smash, raking in $278 million worldwide and setting the tone for the franchise’s five-film run.

Now, with the original creators back at the helm, Scary Movie 6 aims to deliver the humor and scares that fans have been waiting for. With Miramax and Paramount handling distribution, the project is shaping up to be a proper revival of what the Wayans brothers started.

And if that wasn’t enough, the Don’t Be a Menace sequel is sure to bring even more laughs. From Juice to Scream, the Wayans family has always found a way to flip the script—and we’re here for it. Stay tuned for more updates.
