The wait is over. Marvel Studios has released the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and it delivers everything fans have been waiting for, including the first proper look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Latverian accent and all.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously helmed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the film hits theaters December 18, 2026 and brings together heroes from three distinct corners of the MCU in the face of a threat unlike anything the franchise has attempted before. The official synopsis describes beloved heroes from three distinct universes set on a deadly collision course facing an existential threat unlike anything they have ever encountered.
The trailer features Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier warning that “something’s coming, something we may not be able to deter,” before Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, tells the assembled heroes they are going to need a miracle. That miracle appears to be Steve Rogers, with Chris Evans returning as the original Captain America for the first time since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. A brief combat sequence further establishes just how formidable Doom is when Thor strikes at him with Stormbreaker and Doom casually blocks it.
“He’s not simply a villain,” Joe Russo said of the character. “He’s one of the most complex Marvel characters. He’s always three moves ahead.” Downey himself added at CinemaCon earlier this year, “I couldn’t have imagined reuniting with this amazing team, let alone as a new character.”
The cast assembled for the film is among the largest in blockbuster history, bringing together the current MCU roster with the Fox-era X-Men and the newly introduced Fantastic Four. Here is the full lineup:
Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Kelsey Grammer as Beast and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
