Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ Finally Reveals Simon Williams’ Powers in New Trailer

Marvel is finally letting Wonder Man be Wonder Man.

After months of teasing around the edges, Marvel Television has dropped a full trailer that actually shows what the upcoming Disney+ series is about—and more importantly, what Yahya Abdul-Mateen II can do when Simon Williams’ powers come online. The eight-episode series premieres January 27, 2026, with all episodes debuting at once.

Abdul-Mateen II stars as Simon Williams, an aspiring actor desperately trying to break through in Hollywood when life throws him the most ironic opportunity imaginable: auditioning for the lead role in a reboot of a superhero movie called Wonder Man—while quietly developing real-life superpowers of his own. The trailer leans into that meta chaos, balancing industry satire with full-on MCU destruction as Simon’s abilities surface in ways that are anything but subtle.

At the center of Simon’s unlikely journey is Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), the washed-but-wise actor best known in the MCU for pretending to be the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 before resurfacing in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Slattery becomes an unexpected mentor figure—someone who knows a thing or two about performance, survival, and faking it until you make it.

One of the trailer’s standout moments comes when Simon is asked to sign paperwork confirming he doesn’t have superpowers—right before those powers erupt. That, naturally, puts him on the radar of Damage Control, which quickly labels him an “extraordinary threat.”

The cast rounds out with Arian Moayed as Department of Damage Control agent P. Cleary, Zlatko Burić as eccentric filmmaker Von Kovak, X Mayo, Olivia Thirlby, Byron Bowers as Simon’s friend DeMarr Davis, and more. Demetrius Grosse plays Simon’s brother Eric Williams (aka Grim Reaper), while Ed Harris appears as Simon’s agent Neal Saroyan.

According to the official synopsis, Simon and Trevor—actors at very different stages of their careers—find themselves chasing the same life-altering opportunity as Von Kovak attempts to revive his own legacy by remaking a cult superhero film from the 1970s. What unfolds is a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry, layered with very real superpowered consequences.

Behind the camera, Wonder Man comes from Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Andrew Guest (Hawkeye), with Guest serving as showrunner. Cretton directed the first two episodes and executive produces. Together, they appear to be turning the MCU inward, using Wonder Man to poke fun at Hollywood, superhero fatigue, and the machinery behind blockbuster storytelling—all while still delivering a proper origin story.

Notably, this is the first time Marvel has truly leaned into Simon Williams’ abilities on screen, after earlier promos avoided showing much of anything. The new footage changes that fast, teasing the purple energy flickering in his eyes, collapsing rooms, and explosive bursts of power that suggest Wonder Man won’t be playing small.

More than anything, the trailer confirms something fans have been hoping for: Wonder Man looks fun. Sharp, self-aware, and led by an actor who clearly understands the assignment, the series seems ready to satirize the superhero genre while still delivering one.

Marvel’s Wonder Man premieres January 27 on Disney+. And this time, Marvel isn’t hiding the magic.
