Marvin Jones III, Michael Xavier, and Dominic Burgess Join Cast of Prime Video's 'Criminal'

Prime Video’s upcoming graphic novel series, “Criminal,” has expanded its cast with the addition of Marvin Jones III, Michael Xavier, and Dominic Burgess in recurring roles. They join previously cast series regulars Charlie Hunnam, Kadeem Hardison, Logan Browning, Taylor Selé, Adria Arjona, Richard Jenkins and Pat Healy.

“Criminal,” based on the multi-Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, explores a universe of interconnected crime stories.

Jones III is set to play Chester, the formidable chief enforcer for crime boss Sebastian Hyde (John Hawkes). Drafted into the criminal life due to his intimidating stature, Chester uses his reputation and intellect more than brute force, speaking softly but always hinting at potential violence.

Xavier will portray Terry, a hardened yet compassionate armed robber and close friend of Leo (Hunnam). Terry is a loving stepfather to Angie (Aliyah Camacho) and the romantic interest of Greta (Arjona). Burgess takes on the role of Delron, a man of large appetites and emotions, who is facing an impending trial and navigating the treacherous dynamics within his criminal organization.

Selé will play Royal, the sharp-dressed, menacing manager of Hyde’s gambling club, while Healy takes on the role of Seymour, a veteran thief trying to survive in the criminal world.

Browning will play Jenny, an Internal Affairs detective with a dry sense of humor and an absurdly calm demeanor. She presents as an even-tempered woman who appears to be without a care in the world. Jenny is very smart; her father was a criminal and she loves her job — which gives her the right to question, harass, terrify and imprison cops all day long. Jenny was raised with Leo (Hunnam) as her playmate/buddy/blood brother for life.

Hardison takes on the role of Gnarly, an old friend of the characters Leo and Ivan. Gnarly, a nickname from his boxing days in the 1970s, is a local legend known for his fierce demeanor and the limp he’s carried for years. Despite his age, Gnarly commands respect with his ability to cause significant physical harm and his authoritative presence.

Adria Arjona will portray Greta, a sharp-witted car thief and driver who is also a widowed mother. Struggling with her desire to leave her criminal life behind, Greta seeks one last big score to secure a better future for herself and her daughter, Angie.

Jenkins is cast as Ivan, a former criminal and close friend of Leo’s father. Now battling dementia, Ivan relies on Leo for care, creating additional challenges for the younger man.

“Criminal” is directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden for the first four episodes, with Brubaker co-showrunning alongside crime fiction author Jordan Harper. The executive producers include Brubaker, Harper, Phillips, Sarah Carbiener, and Philipp Barnett, with Legendary Television and Amazon MGM Studios producing.
