Mayor of Kingstown is officially coming to an end.
On the heels of its bloody Season 4 finale, Paramount+ has renewed the Jeremy Renner-led crime drama for a fifth and final season. The final installment will consist of eight episodes, down from the 10-episode runs of Seasons 1–4, with Edie Falco set to return alongside Jeremy Renner.
Created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown becomes the first ongoing Sheridan series to receive a defined end date following Paramount+’s leadership shift after Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount Global.
⚠️ Season 4 Finale Spoilers Below
Season 4 ended with Kingstown’s gang war erupting into full-scale violence, leaving Mike McLusky’s grip on the city more unstable than ever.
The finale saw Frank Moses (Lennie James), the untouchable Detroit crime kingpin, finally fall after Mike delivers him to authorities — but only after Frank murders Lamar for betraying him. While Frank is arrested, the move all but guarantees retaliation, positioning him as a dangerous looming threat.
Meanwhile, Bunny Washington (Tobi Bamtefa) survives the chaos but emerges weakened. His war with the Colombians explodes during a brutal prison riot triggered by Warden Nina Hobbs lifting the lockdown. Bunny launches a violent counteroffensive and interrogates Colombian enforcer Cortez, but suffers heavy losses — and Cortez ultimately escapes, ensuring the conflict is far from over.
The season closes with Mike barely holding the town together, Frank alive but cornered, and Bunny still standing — though Kingstown’s fragile balance of power is completely shattered.
The final season will explore the aftermath, as Mike confronts escalating power struggles, mounting threats to those closest to him, and the psychological toll of keeping a violent system from collapsing entirely.
Dillon has previously shared that Sheridan mapped out the series years ago with a seven-season arc in mind. While Mayor of Kingstown won’t reach that original endpoint, the final eight episodes are expected to bring closure to the story Sheridan has long envisioned.
In addition to Renner and Falco, the most recent season starred Lennie James, Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi.
After five seasons, one of Paramount+’s earliest signature dramas is officially preparing to close the gates on Kingstown — on its own terms.
