Mekhi Phifer Joins Action Thriller The Silent Hour

Mekhi Phifer to co-star in the upcoming action thriller The Silent Hour. He will star alongside Joel Kinnaman, Mark Strong, and Sandra Mae Frank.

Brad Anderson is directing from an original screenplay by Dan Hall.

The film follows Boston police detective (portrayed by Kinnaman), who after suffering an on-the-job accident that leaves him hearing impaired. Sixteen months later he and his friend and partner (Strong) must battle Lynch (Phifer) and a team of corrupt cops attempting to eliminate, deaf murder witness, Ava (Frank) in the apartment building where she lives.

Phifer portrays Lynch, a former special forces soldier turned corrupt cop. He is hellbent on silencing the murder witness and cop protecting her.

Frank’s Ava is a recovering drug addict who is determined to turn her life around. However when she accidentally photographs a murder, she gets caught in the crosshairs of the perpetrators and those seeking to protect them.

The Silent Hour will start principal photography, late February and begin shooting in Malta and Toronto soon after.

Eric Paquette of Meridian Pictures will produce the Boston-set crime thriller along with AGC, which is also financing the pic. The deal was negotiated by Katie McGrath of KMR & Associates on behalf of Frank; by Gersh and Brookside Artist Management on behalf of Phifer; and by SVP of Legal and Business Affairs Anant Tamirisa on behalf of AGC Studios.
