Paramount+ has renewed MobLand for a third season ahead of the crime drama’s Season 2 premiere on September 18, with Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren all confirmed to return.
The renewal comes after a behind-the-scenes drama that nearly derailed the show entirely. Hardy, who plays the Harrigan family’s loyal fixer Harry da Souza and also serves as executive producer, had escalating friction with series writer, executive producer and showrunner Jez Butterworth during production on Season 2 that reached a point where the two could no longer work together. Back-channeling efforts eventually led to a meeting in London between Hardy, Butterworth and executive producer David C. Glasser, with executive producer Guy Ritchie also pitching in, and Hardy’s return was secured.
In Season 2, the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire. Harry must walk a dangerous tightrope as tensions within the family intensify, loyalties snap and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.
Alongside Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren, Season 2 stars Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones.
MobLand was Paramount+’s second biggest launch for an original series behind Landman and is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. Executive producers include Glasser, Ritchie, Butterworth, Hardy, Ivan Atkinson, Dean Baker, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Keith Cox.
New episodes of the ten-episode Season 2 will stream weekly on Fridays following the September 18 premiere, with the season finale arriving November 20 on Paramount+.
