The new preview teases high-stakes drama and unresolved cliffhangers across “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago P.D.”
NBC has released the official trailer for the return of its “One Chicago” franchise, giving fans their first extended look at what’s ahead for “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago P.D.” as all three shows prepare to premiere on Wednesday, October 7.
The trailer leans into the franchise’s signature life-or-death stakes, with Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) delivering the preview’s central message: that it’s easy to justify saving yourself when things feel dire, “but you live or die together.”
The footage offers glimpses without resolutions, including a car crashing into the hospital, a reminder of the danger still facing Firehouse 51, and quick flashes of action for the Intelligence Unit. None of the fates of the characters left in jeopardy at the end of last season are revealed.
Chicago Fire left off with nearly all of 51 trapped inside a burning building, some on a ladder outside it, after an explosive, multi-layered emergency. It remains unclear who survives, though it’s already known that Dermot Mulroney’s Dom Pascal will depart after the premiere and Joe Miñoso will exit as Joe Cruz after a handful of episodes. Kelly Severide also closed the season weighing a possible captain promotion against an offer from the Office of Fire Investigation.
Chicago Med picks up with Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) fighting to keep her job after being accused of leaking personnel information. The season also continues the story of Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) and Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber), who welcomed a daughter together, Mabel, after Archer confessed his feelings and the two shared a kiss.
Chicago P.D. returns to the fallout from Eva Imani’s (Arienne Mandi) rescue of her sister, Shari (Selin Çuhadaroglu), who had been kidnapped and groomed as a young girl. Shari was revealed to be guilty of murder and attempted suicide in custody by season’s end, leaving Imani and Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) to face what comes next.
All three series return October 7 on NBC, airing back-to-back starting at 8/7c: “Chicago Med” (Season 12) at 8 p.m., “Chicago Fire” (Season 15) at 9 p.m., and “Chicago P.D.” (Season 14) at 10 p.m. Episodes will stream the next day on Peacock.
