NBC Renews ‘St. Denis Medical’ and ‘Happy’s Place’ for Season 3

NBC has made its first renewals for the 2026–27 television season, picking up its sophomore comedies St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place for third seasons.

Both series have emerged as steady performers for the network, holding their own in linear ratings while continuing to benefit from delayed viewing and streaming on Peacock.

About ‘St. Denis Medical’

Created by Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin, St. Denis Medical is a mockumentary set inside an underfunded and understaffed Oregon hospital, where doctors and nurses attempt to care for patients while managing workplace chaos and their own personal struggles. In Season 2, a major private donation creates new challenges as hospital administrator Joyce takes on more than she can handle.

The series stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper, and Kaliko Kauahi. Eric Ledgin serves as showrunner and executive producer. The show airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes streaming the next day on Peacock.

According to NBC, St. Denis Medical is the only primetime broadcast comedy (excluding Fox series that receive NFL lead-ins) to post season-over-season growth in the adults 18–49 demo. The series is up 3% in the demo compared to last season, with its January 5 episode ranking as the highest-rated in the demo since the show’s premiere in November 2024. That episode also marked the most-watched installment of the current season in total viewers.

About ‘Happy’s Place’

From creators Kevin Abbott and Julie Abbott, Happy’s Place follows Bobbie, who inherits her late father’s tavern only to learn she has a new business partner: Isabella, a younger half-sister she never knew existed. Season 2 explores long-buried family secrets and shifting dynamics inside the bar, reinforcing the idea that family is defined by who shows up, not just bloodlines.

The series stars Reba McEntire, Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn. New episodes air Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT and stream the following day on Peacock.

Happy’s Place is also trending upward. The January 23 episode ranked as the show’s best of the season to date in both the demo and total viewers. The series’ first-quarter 2026 averages are up 15% in the demo and 22% in total viewers compared to the fourth quarter of 2025.

NBC has not yet made a decision on the sophomore comedy Stumble, but the early renewals of St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place signal confidence in the network’s current comedy lineup heading into the next broadcast cycle.
