Peter Sutherland is back, and the stakes are higher than ever in the trailer for season 2 of The Night Agent, Netflix’s breakout drama series. Gabriel Basso reprises his role as the newly minted Night Action agent, who is seen running, diving into rivers, engaging in combat, and taking on new threats in the action-packed trailer. Familiar faces Luciane Buchanan (Rose Larkin) and Kari Matchett (President Michelle Travers) return, with Rose back at Peter’s side after their season one mission to protect the president.
Season 2 expands the world of The Night Agent, introducing Amanda Warren as Catherine Weaver, Peter’s new Night Action boss, and setting the action in New York and Thailand. The trailer also teases the season’s central threat: “We have a mole selling leaked American intelligence to the highest bidder,” Peter says. “Last night, someone stole enough experimental weapons to wipe out Manhattan.”
In one tense moment, Peter defiantly tells Weaver, “I’m doing this myself. Shoot me or get out of my way,” setting the tone for a season filled with tough decisions and explosive action.
Joining the cast this season are Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Brittany Snow, and Teddy Sears, alongside returning stars Basso and Buchanan. Herthum plays Jacob Monroe, an international businessman with powerful connections, while Mandi portrays Noor, an Iranian mission aide to the United Nations who is navigating a dangerous path to secure a better life for her family.
Amanda Warren’s Catherine Weaver is tasked with guiding Peter through his expanded responsibilities, adding layers to the espionage-driven narrative. Other notable additions include Marwan Kenzari (Black Adam), Elise Kibler (The Sunlit Night), and Dikran Tulaine (The Blacklist) in guest roles.
Based on Matthew Quirk’s novel, The Night Agent is created by Shawn Ryan, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Season 2 is set to debut in winter 2025, continuing the momentum from the first season, which became Netflix’s most-watched English-language series of 2023. The series has already been renewed for a third season, with filming underway in Istanbul and scheduled to continue in New York in 2025.
The show’s production team includes heavy hitters such as Marney Hochman, Seth Gordon, and Project X Entertainment’s David Beaubaire and James Vanderbilt. With their expertise, the series promises to maintain its blend of espionage, action, and political intrigue.
Season 2 will follow Peter’s evolution from a low-level FBI agent manning a secret phone line to a full-fledged Night Action operative. As he navigates dangerous missions and shifting alliances, the series dives deeper into the mystery and suspense that captivated viewers in its first season.
For those eagerly awaiting the next chapter, the trailer and newly released photos provide a glimpse of what’s to come: high-stakes action, globe-trotting locations, and a storyline that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
