Niecy Nash-Betts Joins Season 2 of NBC Drama ‘The Hunting Party’

Niecy Nash-Betts is joining the manhunt. The Emmy winner will appear in Season 2 of NBC’s The Hunting Party, returning January 8 at 10/9c on NBC and streaming next day on Peacock.

The series follows a small team of investigators led by former FBI profiler Rebecca “Bex” Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh). Their job: track down the world’s most dangerous killers, all of whom escaped from The Pit — a secret government prison that isn’t supposed to exist. Season 1 saw Bex partnering with Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler), Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie), Jennifer Morales (Sara Garcia), and CIA Agent Jacob Hassani (Patrick Sabongui) as the group raced to recapture a new threat each week.

Season 2 picks up with the team back in motion and the stakes even higher. Fans can expect more character-driven twists, deeper backstories, and the continuation of the show’s love triangle, which Season 1 only began to explore. The new season opens with Eric McCormack stepping in as Ron Simms, the “Boogeyman,” a killer targeting women looking for love. His son, Finnigan McCormack, makes his acting debut as the younger version of Simms in flashbacks.

Nash-Betts appears in Episode 2 as Erica Burke, a detective who once crossed paths with Adrian Gallo, a rural New Mexico serial killer infamous for preserving his victims in acrylic resin. When Gallo re-emerges, Bex is forced to work with Erica before he claims another victim.

Created by JJ Bailey, The Hunting Party is produced by Universal Television, with Bailey and Jake Coburn serving as co-showrunners and executive producers alongside Thor Freudenthal and Michael Jones Morales. Season 2 arrives on the heels of the show’s strong freshman performance, which drew more than 30 million viewers across platforms.
