Keke Palmer and SZA are gearing up for One of Them Days, a new R-rated buddy comedy that’s set to hit theaters on jan. 24, 2025. Directed by Lawrence Lamont, this TriStar Pictures film is scripted by Syreeta Singleton and features an all-star cast. The official trailer just dropped, giving us a first look at what’s sure to be a hilarious ride.
In One of Them Days, Palmer and SZA play best friends and roommates, Dreux and Alyssa. Their world turns upside down when they find out that Alyssa’s boyfriend has blown their rent money. With the clock ticking, the two must hustle to come up with $1,500 by 6 p.m., all while balancing an important interview and keeping their friendship intact. As Dreux says in the trailer, “How are we gonna make $1,500 by 6, not to mention I got the interview at 4?”
The movie also stars a fantastic ensemble cast, including Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, Patrick Cage, and Amin Joseph.
Behind the scenes, the project boasts an impressive lineup of producers. Issa Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi produce for Hoorae, Deniese Davis for ColorCreative, and Charles D. King for Macro Film Studios, which also finances the film. James Lopez and Poppy Hanks are on board as producers as well. Palmer, alongside her mother Sharon Palmer, serves as executive producer under their Big Boss banner. One of Them Days was developed through Sony’s CoCre lab, a collaboration with ColorCreative designed to uplift diverse screenwriters and original feature ideas.
Palmer and SZA’s on-screen chemistry isn’t new to us either. The duo previously teamed up when Palmer hosted Saturday Night Live in 2022, with SZA as the musical guest. Now, they’re back together in what looks to be an entertaining film packed with laughs, heart, and a touch of chaos.
Mark your calendars for jan. 24, 2025, when One of Them Days hits theaters. And if that weekend wasn’t already packed with excitement, it’ll be opening alongside several other wide releases like Lionsgate’s Flight Risk, IFC’s Inheritance, and NEON’s Steven Soderbergh movie Presence.
This comedy is definitely one to keep on your radar!
