‘Percy Jackson and The Olympians’ Season 3 Teaser: Annabeth is Captured & See Courtney B. Vance as Zeus

Annabeth Chase is gone. Taken by the forces of Kronos, her disappearance sets Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 into motion and sends Percy on the most dangerous and personal quest he has ever faced. Disney+ dropped the official teaser trailer for the new season during the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23, with Walker Scobell appearing alongside surprise guests Ming-Na Wen and Andra Day, who portray Hera and Athena, to kick off the reveal. The season premieres November 20.

The teaser also delivers a significant casting reveal. Courtney B. Vance joins the series as Zeus, stepping into the role previously played by the late Lance Reddick, who originated the character in Seasons 1 and 2 before his passing in March 2023. Reddick’s portrayal of Zeus was one of the most celebrated aspects of the early seasons and his loss was deeply felt by the cast, crew and fans of the franchise. Vance now carries that legacy forward.

Season 3 adapts Rick Riordan’s third book in the series, The Titan’s Curse, marking the first time the novel comes to screen. When Annabeth is captured by the forces of Kronos, Percy must embark on his most perilous journey yet to rescue her, free a goddess in chains, confront the Titan’s curse and avoid triggering the fall of Olympus. The Oracle of Delphi issues a dire new prophecy warning that not everyone will make it back alive, introducing real consequences and character deaths to the series for the first time.

“This season is a lot darker than any season we’ve had before,” Scobell told Deadline at D23. He also teased that Season 3 is the most book-accurate adaptation the show has done thus far.

Returning cast includes Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Tamara Smart and Levi Chrisopulos. New additions include Olive Abercrombie as Bianca di Angelo, Holt McCallany as the Titan Atlas, Dafne Keen as the goddess Artemis, Ming-Na Wen as Hera, Andra Day as Athena, Jennifer Beals as Demeter, Hubert Smielecki as Apollo, Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite and Courtney B. Vance as Zeus. Jesse L. Martin also guest stars as Frederick Chase, Annabeth’s mortal father.

The series was created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, who executive produces alongside Craig Silverstein, Dan Shotz, Rick and Rebecca Riordan, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Bert Salke, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Sarah Watson and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson.

The first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians are currently streaming on Disney+. Season 3 premieres November 20.
