Charlie Cale is back, and yes—she’s still on her bullshit. Peacock has officially dropped the full trailer for season 2 of its Emmy-winning original series Poker Face, and it’s serving up a whole new batch of twisted mysteries, eccentric guest stars, and the same sharp-edged wit we’ve come to expect from the human lie detector herself.

The new season premieres May 8, exclusively on Peacock, kicking off with a three-episode launch before rolling out new episodes every Thursday.

From creator Rian Johnson (Knives Out, Glass Onion) and starring Natasha Lyonne—who returns as the quick-tongued, truth-sniffing Charlie—the series continues its signature mystery-of-the-week format. But this time, the road trip is wilder, weirder, and way more star-studded.

Season 2 Synopsis:

“Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in season 2 we’ve taken her journey to the next level—one murder mystery at a time,” Johnson and Lyonne shared in a joint statement. “From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime-solving existential road trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability.”

A Lineup That’s Wild on Paper—and Even Wilder Onscreen

Season 2 is bringing in a massive roster of new guest stars including:
Cynthia Erivo, Awkwafina, Method Man, Kumail Nanjiani, John Mulaney, Giancarlo Esposito, Corey Hawkins, Katie Holmes, Melanie Lynskey, Margo Martindale, Jason Ritter, Taylor Schilling, Rhea Perlman, Alia Shawkat, Geraldine Viswanathan, B.J. Novak, David Alan Grier, Carol Kane, Justin Theroux, and Jasmine Guy.

Twelve all-new episodes are on deck, each crafted like a mini movie with its own unique tone and cast of characters. And with Poker Face, nothing is ever quite what it seems.

From Classic Vibes to Cinematic Style

Johnson and Lyonne say season 2 draws visual inspiration from ‘70s American cinema—think Robert Altman, Bob Rafelson, and Peter Bogdanovich—while keeping its roots in classic case-of-the-week TV shows like Columbo, The Rockford Files, and Quantum Leap.

If season 1 was a breakout, this new chapter is shaping up to be a flex. The first season earned four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actress for Lyonne, and scored Peacock’s first-ever Emmy win thanks to Judith Light’s guest performance.

Now, with Tony Tost (The Terror, Longmire) taking over as showrunner, the series is going full speed ahead.

So buckle up. Poker Face is back May 8, and the road ahead looks anything but smooth.
