Quavo Leads Live-Action/Animation Hybrid Street Racing Thriller ‘Takeover’ [TRAILER]

A new action thriller is racing into theaters this spring. Takeover, starring Quavo and Billy Zane, is set to arrive in theaters May 8, bringing a high-octane story of redemption, street racing, and survival set across Atlanta. The film also stars Serayah, LaMonica Garrett, Martin Sensmeier, Danny Boyd Jr., and Brielle Rankins.

Directed by Greg Jonkajtys, the film combines live-action performances with Trioscope’s hybrid animation technology, creating a graphic-novel-style visual approach designed to amplify the intensity of the film’s street racing and action sequences.

Quavo stars as Guy Miller, a former street racing legend who once dominated Atlanta’s takeover scene — illegal street events where intersections are blocked off for high-speed stunts and races. After serving time in prison, Guy is determined to leave that life behind and focus on rebuilding his future. But when a dangerous opportunity spirals out of control, he’s pulled back into the chaos of the city’s underground racing world.

As rival crews close in and law enforcement tightens its grip, Guy is forced to navigate a relentless night across Atlanta while confronting old loyalties, fractured alliances, and the choices that led him there.

Zane plays Gamal Akopyan, an international criminal mastermind who uses street takeovers as a distraction for elaborate heists, pulling Guy back behind the wheel for a high-stakes operation with life-or-death consequences.

Written by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive) and Brandon M. Easton (Agent Carter), Takeover is produced by Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Pierre “P” Thomas, Brian Sher, Don Mandrik, Stuart, and Quavo, through Quality Films, Real Folk Productions, Huncho Films, and Trioscope Studios.

Using Trioscope’s SEE technology — the same hybrid animation process used in projects like The Liberator — the film blends CGI environments with live-action performances to create a stylized, graphic-novel aesthetic while maintaining grounded performances.

At its core, Takeover explores identity, redemption, and the struggle between the life someone wants to leave behind and the one that keeps pulling them back in.

The action thriller arrives in theaters May 8.
