“I Was Only Supposed to Be in 2 Episodes”: Quincy Chad Talks ‘Snowfall,’ ‘The Drop’ & That Scene

If you watched Snowfall, you know Quincy Chad, even if you only know him as Deon. The New York–bred actor has built a career one strong role at a time, with appearances on Orange Is the New Black, Power, and The Get Down. He was a Snowfall fan long before he joined the cast. He moved to Los Angeles in 2020, just as the industry shut down during COVID, and the first job he booked was the show he’d been watching from home.

He was only supposed to appear in two episodes. Instead, he made Deon so memorable that years later the character is back in the Snowfall universe with the new spinoff, The Drop.

In this conversation, Quincy opens up about bringing Deon back, the intense episode six scene everyone is talking about, and the take that didn’t make the final cut. He also shares the acting note that changed his approach, the all-night August Wilson monologue that got him hooked on acting, and why he believes the best stories, and careers, take time to build.

Spoiler warning: This interview discusses The Drop through episode six.
