Directed by Ashley Cahill (Random Acts of Violence), Resurrection Road follows an elite squad of six Black soldiers, led by ex-slave Barabbas, on a perilous mission to infiltrate a heavily fortified Confederate stronghold deep within the Arkansas wilderness. Their objective: dismantle the fort’s long-range artillery to alter the course of the war. However, as they venture further into enemy territory, the soldiers encounter a sinister force lurking in the shadows—an evil that has claimed the lives of all previous teams sent before them.

The cast features Malcolm Goodwin (Reacher), Michael Madsen (Kill Bill), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Dexter: Original Sin), Randy Wayne (Reagan), Ronnie Gene Blevins (Emancipation), Okea Eme-Akwari (The Walking Dead), Randall J. Bacon (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Furly Mac (Dahmer), and Triana Browne (Modelhouse). The film also marks the feature debuts of Davonte Burse and Bryan Taronn Jones.

Produced by Talia Bella, Pantea Ghaderi, and Randy Wayne, Resurrection Road aims to bring fresh Black voices and talent to the forefront of genre filmmaking, while delving into the Black experience within Civil War narratives.

Whether Resurrection Road can successfully balance its historical setting with horror elements remains to be seen. For now, audiences can judge for themselves by watching the official trailer below. And be sure to support it when the film hits screens—both big and small—on June 6.
