Roadside Attractions Drops Trailer for Rose Byrne-Led True Story Drama ‘Tow’

Roadside Attractions has released the official trailer for Tow, a new drama from director Stephanie Laing based on the true story of Amanda Ogle, a homeless woman in Seattle who found herself trapped in a years-long battle with the city after her car was wrongfully towed.

Rose Byrne stars as Ogle, who was living out of her aging Toyota Camry when it was impounded, leaving her with a staggering $21,634 tow bill. What begins as a desperate attempt to recover her only means of survival quickly turns into a relentless legal fight against an unfeeling bureaucratic system. As the case drags on, Tow shifts from a procedural struggle into a story about dignity, resilience, and the power of being heard when the system is designed to ignore you.

Byrne is joined by Dominic Sessa as Ogle’s young attorney, Kevin Eggers, with Demi Lovato, Ariana DeBose, and Octavia Spencer playing women she meets at a local shelter as she builds a community of support. Simon Rex and Elsie Fisher also appear in supporting roles.

The film premiered on the festival circuit last year, screening at Santa Barbara, Tribeca, Nantucket, and Galway, where it drew attention for Byrne’s performance and its empathetic approach to a familiar American nightmare. Laing, whose recent work includes Physical, Palm Royale, and Your Friends & Neighbors, directs from a script by Jonathan Keasey and Brant Boivin.

While Tow carries moments of humor, the trailer makes clear that the film doesn’t shy away from how exhausting and dehumanizing the process becomes. It positions Ogle’s story within a long tradition of films about individuals pushed to the brink by institutional failure, though Laing’s approach keeps the focus firmly on character rather than courtroom theatrics.

Tow opens in select theaters on March 20, 2026.
