Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst, LaKeith Stanfield, Uzo Aduba star in Roofman, an offbeat crime comedy based on an unbelievable true story — and yes, it involves living inside a Toys “R” Us.

Directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines), Roofman follows Jeffrey Manchester (Tatum), a former Army Ranger and struggling dad who turns to robbing McDonald’s by cutting holes in their roofs — earning him the nickname “Roofman.” But after escaping prison, he takes things up a notch by secretly living in a North Carolina Toys “R” Us for six months while plotting his next move.

That plan goes sideways when he unexpectedly falls for Leigh (Dunst), a divorced mom who’s drawn to his charm — not realizing she’s dating a criminal in hiding. Uzo Aduba introduces Jeffrey and Leigh, while LaKeith Stanfield helps Tatum stay out of prison.

Ben Mendelsohn, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Lily Collias, Jimmy O. Yang, and Peter Dinklage round out the cast.

The film blends romance, absurdity, and true crime suspense — all with a comedic twist — as Tatum’s double life spirals into a wild game of cat and mouse.

Co-written by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, Roofman hits theaters October 10, 2025, via Paramount Pictures. Tatum also serves as executive producer.
