Rosario Dawson and Tiffany Haddish are set to lead The Lesson, a new horror-thriller from executive producer JoJo Ryder, who will make his feature directorial debut with the project.
The film centers on a devoted teacher whose death sparks a series of disturbing events that begin to haunt his former students. As the unsettling incidents escalate, buried secrets and unresolved guilt resurface, forcing the group to confront a past they thought was long behind them. Additional casting is currently underway.
Ryder, whose producing credits include American Heist, Mack & Rita, A Little White Lie, and Talks With Mama Tina, both wrote and will direct the film. Executive producers include Shawn Kowlessar, Jeff Williams, Lindsay Butler, and Ryder Media. Production is being lined up for later this year in Los Angeles.
Haddish was drawn to the film’s layered storytelling, noting that the project blends horror with themes of accountability and consequence. Dawson also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting her excitement to work alongside Haddish and Ryder.
Haddish is currently in post-production on The Toad, The Deputy, and Motion. Dawson has season two of Disney+’s Ahsoka on the horizon.
