The HollyRod Foundation has announced its full list of honorees for this year’s annual gala, set for November 7 in Los Angeles. Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson will receive the Clarence & Jacqueline Avant Humanitarian Award, Ahman Green will receive the Matthew Thomas Robinson Courage Award, Maureen McCormick and Bruce Sickler will receive the Angel on the Path Award, Camille Joy Robinson and Tanner Smith will receive the HollyRod Hero Award, and Teoscar Hernández and Jennifer Hernández will receive the HollyRod Champions of Belonging Award.
This year’s event, themed “Action in Motion,” marks 27 years for HollyRod, founded in 1999 by Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL player Rodney Peete. The nonprofit works to raise awareness and provide resources for families navigating an autism or Parkinson’s disease diagnosis, and the gala remains its biggest fundraising night of the year.
The Jacksons follow a lineup of past Humanitarian Award recipients that includes Naomi Campbell, Viola Davis, Don Cheadle, and Bridgid Coulter. Green, the Green Bay Packers’ all-time leading rusher, is being recognized after recently going public with his own early-onset Parkinson’s diagnosis. McCormick, known for “The Brady Bunch,” shares her honor with American Airlines customer care manager Sickler, while Robinson, founder of the Ausomely Different Foundation and host of the “Moments of Joy” podcast, is honored alongside “Love on the Spectrum” star Smith. Teoscar Hernández, the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder, and his wife round out the list of honorees.
“Every honoree this year has taken our mission and put it into real, everyday action, for their own families, their communities, and the families we serve,” Robinson Peete said of the group. “That’s exactly the spirit behind Action in Motion, and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate them.”
