Saweetie Joins Season 2 of Netflix’s Teen Psychological Gambling Drama ‘Bet’

Saweetie is heading to boarding school. The rapper has joined the cast of Netflix’s teen psychological drama Bet alongside series star Miku Martineau, as the show’s second season begins production in Toronto.

Bet follows students at an elite boarding school where underground gambling determines the social hierarchy. Martineau plays Yumeko, a mysterious transfer student whose gambling prowess puts her in the crosshairs of the school’s powerful Student Council, even as she secretly plots revenge that threatens to upend the entire school’s status quo. It is unclear which character Saweetie will play.

The live-action series is based on the Japanese manga Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura. Season 1 became a hit for Netflix after launching in May 2025, drawing 2.4 million views in its first week, spending three weeks on Netflix’s English-language top ten, and reaching the top ten in 77 countries with more than 10 million views during that run.

This marks Saweetie’s latest role for Netflix, following her 2021 hosting gig on the sex-positive comedy special Sex: Unzipped. She previously starred in Starz’s BMF.

“There’s a psychological edge to the world of Bet that immediately brought me in and the character instantly called to me,” Saweetie said. “The fact it’s rooted in manga, this Japanese storytelling tradition that’s been shaping street culture and fashion for years, is what sealed it. Bet, like me, doesn’t play it safe.”

The cast also includes Ayo Solanke, Eve Edwards, Clara Alexandrova, Hunter Cardinal, Anwen O’Driscoll, Aviva Mongillo, Ryan Sutherland, Laura Afelskie, Rami Khan and Bryn Samuel.

Bet is produced by Boat Rocker Studios and was developed by Simon Barry, who directs alongside Jacquie Gould and James Genn. Barry executive produces alongside Boat Rocker Studios partners Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, Jon Rutherford and Nick Nantell.

The series marks the latest Netflix show filmed in Toronto, joining Vladimir, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, Wayward and the upcoming season of Ginny & Georgia.
