Shaggy is joining Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming dramedy Honeymoon With Harry, based on the novel by Bart Baker.
No details have been revealed about his character, but Shaggy joins a growing ensemble that already includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Kevin Costner, Sarah Pidgeon, and Rita Ora.
The film is directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, with a script from Dan Fogelman. The story follows a man (Gyllenhaal) whose honeymoon plans take an unexpected turn when he’s forced to travel with his fiancée’s overprotective father (Costner). What starts as tension between two very different men slowly shifts into an unlikely bond, set against the backdrop of an island getaway.
Shaggy’s addition brings another layer of crossover appeal to the project. The Kingston-born artist rose from New York’s dancehall scene to global fame with hits like Oh Carolina, Boombastic, and the diamond-certified Hot Shot. Over his career, he’s sold more than 40 million records, earned two Grammy Awards, and remains one of the most streamed reggae artists in the world.
On screen, he’s previously appeared in projects like The Little Mermaid Live! and The Masked Singer, where he competed in Season 7. He’s also preparing for his upcoming album Lottery, arriving May 15 via VP Records and Ranch Entertainment.
With music artists like Shaggy and Rita Ora joining established Hollywood names, Honeymoon With Harry is shaping up to be an ensemble driven by strong personalities—and a lot of unexpected chemistry.
