Tyler Perry’s Sistas is continuing to evolve as it heads into its 9th season, with Sullivan Jones, Walnette Marie Santiago, and Darone Okolie joining the series. These fresh additions will recur and interact with the core ensemble cast, which includes KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, Crystal Renee’ Hayslett, Devale Ellis, Chido Nwokocha, and more.
Production on season 9 has recently wrapped in Atlanta and season 9 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025. Sistas follows the lives of a group of single Black women navigating the highs and lows of modern relationships, careers, and the challenges of dating in an age dominated by social media. The show highlights their journey as they try to balance unrealistic relationship goals with the demands of their professional and personal lives.
The new faces joining the show are Jones, who recurs as Dr. Vaughn and Okolie, who will recur as Roc—both will serve as love interests for the show’s key characters. Santiago will take on the role of Nia.
In addition to its ensemble of established stars, Sistas has garnered impressive success, becoming the No. 1 scripted series on cable among Black viewers aged 18-49 in 2024, according to BET and Nielsen.
Tyler Perry’s Sistas continues to thrive amid a busy year, with the Zatima spinoff also returning for its fourth season. Perry remains a tireless creator, with multiple projects in the works, including The Oval, House of Payne, and new films like Joy Ridge and Sisters in Italy. Perry’s collaboration with BET Media Group to launch new FAST channels, BET Tyler Perry Comedy and BET Tyler Perry Drama, further expands his reach.
On top of all this, She the People, a political dramedy created by Perry, is set to premiere this month. The series stars Terri J. Vaughn as Lieutenant Governor Antoinette Dunkerson, who finds herself in a battle with a sexist governor while trying to balance her political career with her family life. She the People is poised to add another hit to Perry’s ever-expanding catalog.
Keep an eye out for Sistas Season 9, Zatima Season 4, and She the People, as Tyler Perry’s unmatched creative pace shows no sign of slowing down.
