New ‘Skeleton Crew’ Trailer Reveals First Look at Jaleel White as Space Pirate in Upcoming Star Wars Series

New Trailer for 'Star Wars: Skeleton Crew' Reveals a Galaxy-Spanning Adventure for Young Heroes

With just weeks to go until Star War’s new series Skeleton Crew lands on Disney+, a new trailer has just dropped, finally giving fans a look at Jaleel White’s character. Known for his iconic role as Steve Urkel on Family Matters, White takes on a more ominous persona as Ghunther, a cyborg-like space pirate.

Skeleton Crew follows four young characters—Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter), and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith)—as they get swept away on an unexpected intergalactic journey. Lost in a galaxy fraught with danger, they cross paths with Jude Law’s character, Jod Na Nawood, a mysterious figure who offers his help. “I’ll get you home,” he tells them, hinting at a partnership that seems likely to invite as much risk as reward. Along their journey, the group encounters alien creatures, treacherous landscapes, and relentless space pirates.

The show is set in the same timeline as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, during the New Republic’s era as it attempts to restore peace in the galaxy following the Empire’s fall. This shared timeline enriches the story, opening possibilities for familiar crossover themes and characters as these young adventurers chart their course.

Created by Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts and writer Christopher Ford, Skeleton Crew is part of a growing slate of Star Wars series seeking to explore new genres within the universe. This one leans into adventure and suspense, with episodes directed by a lineup of acclaimed filmmakers, including Bryce Dallas Howard, the Daniels, David Lowery, Jake Schreier, and Lee Isaac Chung.

Fans can watch the full trailer to get a sense of what awaits these young travelers and their reluctant guide, as well as a first look at White’s intriguing new character. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premieres with a two-episode release on Disney+ on December 3.
