Skye Townsend has been upped to a series regular for the third season of Robin Thede’s A Black Lady Sketch Show.
Created, written by and starring Thede, A Black Lady Sketch Show consists of comedic sketches performed by a main cast of Black women comedians including producer and creator Thede, Gabrielle Dennis, Quinta Brunson (season 1), and Ashley Nicole Black. Laci Mosley recurs on the series which has a host of guest stars including executive producer Issa Rae, Angela Bassett, Laverne Cox, and Nicole Byer.
Townsend recurred on six episodes of season 2 which received five Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Sketch Series.
“Skye quickly proved to be an invaluable cast member of A Black Lady Sketch Show last season and we couldn’t be more excited to promote her to series regular, said Thede. “We haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of her talents and we are thrilled to see more of her dynamic characters on screen.”
A Black Lady’s Sketch Show is exeuctive produced by Thede, Issa Rae for HOORAE, Dave Becky and Jonathan Berry for 3 Arts Entertainment. Tony Hernandez and Brooke Posch executive produce for JAX Media and head writer/co-executive producer Lauren Ashley Smith. Deniese Davis, HOORAE’s Montrel McKay and Jax Media’s John Skidmore produce.
As of now there is no premiere date for Season 3.
