Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s next film, starring Tom Cruise, continues to add high-profile talent, with Australian actress Sophie Wilde officially joining the ensemble cast. The untitled project, produced by Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment, also stars Oscar nominee Sandra Hüller, Emmy-winner John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Oscar nominee Jesse Plemons. Oscar-winner Riz Ahmed is also in final talks to join the production.

The film, co-written by Iñárritu and collaborators Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris, and Nicolás Giacobone, is reportedly centered around the most powerful man in the world, who embarks on a frantic mission to prove himself humanity’s savior before a disaster of his own making spirals out of control.

Iñárritu, a four-time Oscar-winning filmmaker known for The Revenant and Birdman, has enlisted Cruise, who is both starring in and producing the film. Cruise’s strategic partnership with Warner Bros. continues to expand with this latest collaboration.

The cast is shaping up to be one of the most formidable in recent memory. Sandra Hüller, nominated for her role in Anatomy of a Fall, brings her award-winning talent to the project, having also recently appeared in Project Hail Mary alongside Ryan Gosling. John Goodman, widely known for his Emmy-winning role in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and his work in films such as Argo and The Big Lebowski, is also set to join the production.

Michael Stuhlbarg, a two-time Emmy nominee, and Jesse Plemons, fresh from his Cannes Best Actor win and recent success in Killers of the Flower Moon, round out the cast. Wilde, who has quickly risen in prominence following roles in Talk to Me and Boy Swallows Universe, continues to expand her global profile with this high-profile role.

Riz Ahmed, an Academy Award winner for The Long Goodbye and an Emmy winner for The Night Of, is in final negotiations to join the cast. His recent credits include Sound of Metal and the upcoming thriller Relay.

With filming expected to begin soon, Iñárritu’s untitled project has quickly become one of the most anticipated films on the horizon, thanks to its high-profile cast and visionary director. Further details about the film, including its release date, are yet to be announced.
