After more than a year of anticipation, Supacell is officially back in action. Creator Rapman took to Instagram on October 5 to confirm that Season 2 of the hit Netflix series is now filming — sharing a photo of the script with the caption:
“Sorry to anybody who’s been waiting. Supacell season 2 is currently ????. I PROMISE it will be worth the wait ????????????????.”
That post alone was enough to send social media into a frenzy. It’s been a long wait since the show first dropped in June 2024, but we’re finally getting what we’ve been hoping for: Supacell Season 2 is officially in production.

Netflix renewed Supacell for a second season on August 13, 2024, after its debut became one of the streamer’s biggest UK originals of the year. The superhero drama, which follows five ordinary people from South London who unexpectedly develop superpowers connected by Sickle Cell disease, was praised for its originality, heart, and striking representation of Black British life.
Season 1 launched to critical acclaim, holding a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and amassing over 174 million hours viewed globally in its first six weeks. It also sparked conversation for its rich storytelling and cinematic visuals — especially its lighting, which beautifully highlighted Black skin tones.
At the time of renewal, Rapman teased that Season 2 would be “really, really dark,” promising to raise the stakes while exploring the emotional and moral fallout from Season 1’s cliffhanger

What to Expect (Our Predictions)
While Netflix and Rapman are keeping major plot details under wraps, we’ve got a few predictions based on the Season 1 finale, Rapman’s past interviews, and the show’s creative direction so far.
A Darker and More Intense Tone
Rapman has already teased that Season 2 will be “really, really dark,” suggesting a shift toward heavier emotional and moral territory. We expect the new season to explore the cost of power — and what happens when ordinary people are pushed past their limits.
Michael’s Next Chapter
Tosin Cole’s Michael is likely stepping into a greater leadership role as the group faces new challenges. After the losses and revelations of Season 1, we predict his journey will focus on balancing love, duty, and survival while uncovering more about the organization behind their powers.
A Growing Super-Community
The Season 1 finale hinted that more people could develop powers linked to Sickle Cell. If that thread continues, we might see a broader “super community” form — one that finally pushes back against the secret organization and reshapes the power dynamics in South London.
Veronica’s Ruthless Return
Veronica (Nadine Mills) was revealed as one of the major forces behind the chaos last season. We expect her to return with an even more ruthless agenda — possibly taking full control of the mysterious operation she once served.
Higher Stakes and Expanded Worldbuilding
Season 1 served as the “origin story,” but Rapman has called Supacell a three-season arc. If that holds true, Season 2 will likely act as the middle chapter — where alliances are tested, powers evolve, and not everyone makes it out unscathed.
The Cultural Impact
What sets Supacell apart isn’t just its sci-fi premise — it’s how the series weaves in real-world themes like systemic oppression, survival, and health disparities. By connecting superpowers to Sickle Cell, a disease that disproportionately affects Black people, Rapman turned a painful reality into a powerful metaphor for strength and unity.
While it’s been over a year since the first season premiered, Rapman’s latest post suggests the creative team took the time needed to make Season 2 even stronger. “Worth the wait” might sound like a promise — and based on what Supacell delivered the first time around, it’s one worth believing.
