Michaela Coel is starring opposite Anne Hatheway in Mother Mary directed by A24's The Green Knight helmer David Lowery. The film will be an ambitious pop melodrama that follows the story of a fictional musician portrayed by Hathaway and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer played by Coel. Mother Mary marks A24's third collaboration with Lowery after The Green Knight and A Ghost Story, and the company will oversee the global distribution of the film. The production will take place in Germany, with funding from Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the DFFF.
