Common joins Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s coming-of-age dramedy Never Have I Ever for its second season. Inspired by Kaling’s own childhood, the Netflix series follows the complicated life of a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl, Devi. She is an overachieving high school sophomore who has a short fuse that gets her into difficult situations. In the upcoming season, Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) continues to deal with the everyday pressures of high school and drama at home, while also navigating new romantic relationships. Does this mean she'll embark on a new romance with Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet) or Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison)? The series also stars Richa Moorjani as Devi's cousin Kamala, Ramona Young as Eleanor, Lee Rodrigez as Fabiola, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Devi's late father Mohan and Rushi Kota as Prashant. Benjamin Norris as Trent Harrison, Adam Shapiro as Mr. Shapiro, Martin Martinez as Oliver, Jaren Lewison as Ben, Christina Kartchner as Eve and Jack Seavor McDonald as Erick Perkins also star. Byrne as Evan, head research assistant of Kamala's Caltech program. Never Have I Ever will return to Netflix this summer. Never Have I Ever is co-created and co-written by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). 3 Arts’ Howard Klein and David Miner will be executive producing along with Kaling and Fisher, who are also set to be the series’ showrunners. The project marks the second collaboration between Kaling and Fisher, who have both worked on the romantic-comedy series The Mindy Project.
