Crystal Fox, Djouliet Amara, and Ally Maki have joined the cast of The Big Door Prize, rounding out the cast Apple’s The Big Door Prize. They join previously cast Gabrielle Dennis, Damon Gupton, Chris O'Dowd, Josh Segarra and Sammy Fourlas. The half-hour comedy is based on M.O. Walsh’s bestselling novel. The 10-episode series tells a story of a small town that is forever changed when a mysterious machine appears in the grocery store, promising to reveal each resident’s true life potential. Dennis will play Cass. She has been with Dusty (O’Dowd) since high school and has maintained a veneer of contentedness in her quiet domestic life, but her pleasant persona is about to crack and fissure in an earthquake of self-discovery. Fox is Izzy, Cass’s charismatic and attention-seeking mother, she is a former dancer and the longest-serving mayor in Deerfield’s history. Amara plays Trina’ Dusty (O’Dowd) and Cass’s (Dennis) incredibly bright, sarcastic daughter, who is privately dealing with an intense cocktail of grief and guilt. Gupton will portray Father Rueben, the trusted school chaplain at Deerfield High. He is relied upon for emotional and spiritual guidance, not only by Deerfield’s students but also the staff. He privately is going through his own crisis. Maki portrays Hana, who works as a bartender at The Bedford Bar. She is a keen observer of human nature, but maintains an emotional distance from most of Deerfield’s residents. That is until she is unexpectedly drawn into the center of their drama. He also owns of a combination Italian restaurant and sports center and is widely recognized as Deerfield’s most eligible bachelor. Fourlas will portray Jacob, a sweet-natured, sensitive soul. He works at the local general store and is struggling after the death of his identical twin brother. The Big Door Prize hails from David West Read, Skydance Television and Parasite producer CJ ENM/Studio Dragon. Read, who is writing the adaptation, will serve as showrunner and executive produce. Miky Lee and Hyun Park of CJ ENM/Studio Dragon and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost of Skydance Television will also produce. Skydance Television and CJ ENM/Studio Dragon are producing the series. The Big Door Prize marks the second Apple original series from Skydance Television, joining the upcoming high-profile drama series Foundation, starring Jared Harris and Lee Pace, which is based on Isaac Asimov’s iconic sci-fi novel trilogy. The Big Door Prize will debut globally on Apple TV+ fall 2022.
