Tanzyn Crawford Joins Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed Live-Action Series Adaptation

Australian actress Tanzyn Crawford, who will portray Tanselle in HBO’s upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has been cast as a series regular in Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.

The series is a high-octane thriller centered on a centuries-long secret war between two shadowy factions: one bent on controlling humanity’s future, the other fighting to preserve free will. Set against pivotal historical events, the story follows characters as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.

Crawford joins previously announced leads Toby Wallace and Lola Petticrew, along with series regulars Zachary Hart and Laura Marcus. Production is set to start in Italy in 2026, though the exact time period and details about Crawford’s character remain under wraps. Early reports suggest the series will take creative liberties, with characters and storylines different from the games.

Assassin’s Creed is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, with more than 230 million units sold worldwide. Since its 2007 debut, the series has spanned multiple console generations, telling stories that blend historical settings with a sci-fi twist through the Animus—a device that allows characters to relive their ancestors’ memories.

The franchise has seen adaptations before: in 2016, a feature film starring Michael Fassbender brought the video game universe to the big screen, while animated shorts and novels have expanded the lore. Netflix’s series marks the first live-action episodic adaptation, promising to explore the franchise’s signature blend of history, action, and conspiracy in a serialized format.

Crawford got her start as a main cast member on the 2023 Hulu limited series Tiny Beautiful Things, playing lead Kathryn Hahn’s daughter, and also had a guest arc on Apple TV’s Servant the same year. She went on to headline the Australian series Swift Street opposite Cliff Curtis, and is set to appear as Tanselle in HBO’s upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, which premieres January 18 and has already been renewed for a second season.

Assassin’s Creed is executive produced by showrunners Roberto Patino and David Wiener, alongside Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones for Ubisoft Film & Television, and Matt O’Toole.
