Taraji P. Henson and Joey Bada$$ to Lead Netflix’s Faith-Based Drama ‘’Tis So Sweet’

Taraji P. Henson and Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott — better known as Joey Bada$$ — are set to star in ’Tis So Sweet, the second film produced under Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin’s faith-based partnership with Netflix.

Inspired by the true viral story of Chicago baker Lenore Lindsey, the film follows a woman who makes a miraculous discovery that forces her to confront lost time, heal deep wounds, and step into a renewed sense of purpose. Henson will take on the role of Lindsey, with Scott joining in a leading role as the inspirational drama unfolds.

Tis So Sweet continues Netflix’s faith-driven slate with Perry and Franklin, following Ruth & Boaz, which premiered in september and debuted at No. 2 on the streamer’s global Top 10 Movies (English) list. Director Tasha Smith, who has worked across projects like Mayor of Kingstown, Harlem, Bel-Air, and BMF, helms the film from a script by Randy Brown, known for Miracles from Heaven. Perry and Franklin will produce, with Tony Strickland, Angi Bones, and Bart Lipton serving as executive producers.

This announcement arrives during a major moment in Henson’s career. It follows her lead performance in Netflix’s thriller Straw, and comes right after she inked two significant deals — her own multi-project Netflix deal and a first-look agreement with Fox Entertainment Studios for her TPH Entertainment banner. Taraji is moving with intention and momentum, expanding her footprint both in front of and behind the camera.

Henson is also set to reunite with Perry on Why Did I Get Married Again?, further solidifying her expanding relationship with Netflix as she builds out her TPH Entertainment slate. With ’Tis So Sweet, she continues to champion roles rooted in depth, resilience, and purpose — and this one arrives right on time.

More details on production and release timing will follow soon.
