Before its Broadway debut, “The Wiz” embarked on a pre-Broadway national tour that commenced in Baltimore. Baltimore holds a special place in the history of “The Wiz” as the site of its original world premiere nearly 50 years ago.

Behind the scenes, the production is in the capable hands of director Schele Williams and renowned choreographer JaQuel Knight. Writer and TV host Amber Ruffin contributes additional material to the show. The musical score, composed by Charlie Smalls and others, promises to be a highlight.

The design team adds to the production’s excellence, with scenic design by Hannah Beachler, costume design by Sharen Davis, lighting design by Ryan J. O’Gara, sound design by Jon Weston, projection design by Daniel Brodie, wig design by Charles LaPointe, and makeup design by Kirk Cambridge-Del Pesche.

With its rich history and exceptional cast and creative team, “The Wiz” revival is undeniably one of the most highly anticipated productions in the world of theater.
