Showtime Announces Release Date and Trailer to Nelson George’s ‘Thriller 40’ Documentary

Showtime has released the trailer for “Thriller 40”, the documentary feature on the making of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album. The best-selling album of all time worldwide will be premiered on Saturday, December 2, on Paramount+ with the SHOWTIME plan. The feature will also be available internationally on Paramount+ in various countries and on MTV.

The documentary, directed by Nelson George, features never-before-seen footage like recording sessions of the album. It also features behind-the-scenes footage from making the short film. As well as a rare interviews with Jackson himself. Thriller 40 will feature commentary from Misty Copeland, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Will.I.Am, and more.

Journalist Steve Ivory sums up its impact at the beginning of the trailer: “There are two things in the music business: before ‘Thriller’ and after ‘Thriller.’

“It’s the ultimate blueprint to modern pop music,” Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am says in the trailer. “If Thriller came out today, it would still be the greatest album ever made.”
