T’Nia Miller Joins Apple TV’s Cult Horror Series ‘Ascension’ as Series Regular

Ascension Adds T’Nia Miller, Amanda Plummer, Christopher Chung to Cast

The cast for Apple TV’s Ascension, the new cult horror series inspired by Adam Nevill’s novel Last Days, continues to grow. Deadline reports that T’Nia Miller, known for The Haunting of Bly Manor and Generation Z, has joined as a series regular alongside Amanda Plummer, known for Pulp Fiction and Needful Things, and Christopher Chung, known for Slow Horses and Doctor Who.

They join previously announced leads Caitríona Balfe, who also executive produces, and Bill Nighy. The series follows Rose, played by Balfe, a documentary filmmaker and recently divorced mother skilled at uncovering other people’s truths while struggling to resolve her own. When Rose begins a project investigating a mysterious 20th-century cult known as the Church of Ascension, she finds unexpected comfort in its teachings, until she uncovers something far more sinister underneath.

Alfonso Cuarón co-writes the series with his brother Carlos Cuarón, along with Natalie Erika James and Christian White, who share showrunning duties, with James also serving as lead director. Nevill’s source novel drew inspiration from real-life cult figures including Jim Jones and Charles Manson to build its suspense. The series will consist of one-hour episodes and is described as exploring evil and innocence at their most extreme, and how far someone will go to protect the people they love, sometimes even from themselves.

Miller recently played Jocasta opposite Paul Bettany and James Spader in Marvel’s VisionQuest, which premiered October 14 on Disney+.

With a cast this stacked now assembled around Cuarón’s first major television project, Ascension is positioning itself as one of the more closely watched prestige horror series heading toward production.
