The One Chicago revolving door continues to turn.
Toya Turner, who joined Chicago P.D. as series regular Kiana Cook in season 12, will not be returning for season 13. Her departure comes after just one season and follows a string of major exits across the One Chicago universe — including Chicago Fire’s Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett, who will not return for season 14.

Turner confirmed the news in a heartfelt Instagram post:
“My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next.”
She continued:
“To the cast and crew: thank you for the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity you brought every day. It was an honor to share the screen and the set with such talent… To the ChiHards: thank you for welcoming me, rooting for me, and showing Kiana love.”
Kiana Cook joined Intelligence after helping solve a critical case and was quickly recruited by Voight. She developed a mentor-mentee dynamic with Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), and even held her own in tough moments with Officer Dante Torres and Kevin Atwater. The character’s family backstory was only beginning to unfold, with episode 9 diving into her strained relationship with her wealthy, disapproving mother — opening up new emotional territory. Unfortunately, that storyline now ends abruptly, with Kiana’s arc left largely unfinished.
While no official reason for her exit has been given, Deadline reports that the show is already casting a new female series regular: a former military member now working with the ATF Task Force, described as a “loose cannon.” It’s a character with a vastly different energy than Kiana — signaling a sharp tonal shift for Intelligence in season 13.
One Chicago’s Cast Turnover Continues
Turner’s departure is the latest in a wave of changes across the One Chicago franchise. Tracy Spiridakos exited Chicago P.D. at the end of season 11, while Jesse Lee Soffer left prior to that. Over on Chicago Fire, Kyri and Lockett are both out ahead of season 14. These exits follow a pattern of short-term additions and long-term shake-ups that continue to reshape the world of One Chicago.
Despite the changes, Jason Beghe remains confirmed to return as Voight for season 13.
The Franchise Moves Forward — On Screen and Off
Chicago Fire season 14, Chicago P.D. season 13, and Chicago Med season 11 will all return in fall 2025, airing Wednesdays on NBC. And while some familiar faces are leaving, the universe is expanding behind the scenes.
NBC recently announced a brand-new One Chicago podcast launching this fall, hosted by Marina Squerciati (P.D.) and Steven Weber (Med). The podcast will feature behind-the-scenes interviews with actors, writers, and crew members across all three series — giving fans deeper insight into the franchise’s storytelling process.
So while Kiana’s time on Chicago P.D. has ended, the One Chicago world continues to grow — and Toya Turner’s next chapter is only just beginning.
